The last in Anna del Conte's gastronomic tour of Italy series.
Today, Anna cooks a traditional dish from Sicily, in the far south of the country.
Sicily's history is of a series of invasions - Greeks, the Arabs, the Normans, French, Spanish.
All have dominated the island at some point, and all have introduced different ingredients and influences to the island.
Dried fruits, sweet items and of course ice cream - gelati - are all associated with Sicily, but Anna chooses a recipe of stewed aubergine or eggplant.
