Ìý Motor Neurone Disease Friday 12 October 2001 Ìý
This week, Diane Pretty, who suffers from Motor Neurone Disease, is in the high court fighting for the right to commit suicide with the help of her husband, arguing that her quality of life has become so low that to deny her the opportunity to commit suicide is a breach of her human rights.

Three people die every day from Motor Neurone Disease in the UK alone, and yet awareness of this rapidly progressive and fatal disease is low, with it often being confused with other illnesses.
Martha talks to Liz Shipley, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 1998, about living with the illness and her frustration with the public's perception of it.
Lindsay McClelland, MND Association Regional Care Advisor for the South East Thames area, joins the discussion.
