Since her husband of 23 years left her, Angela Kirby has been a waitress, a kitchen hand, a sous-chef and a gardener. At age 50, she began writing cookery and gardening books.
Now at 69 she's won the prestigious 91Èȱ¬ Wildlife Magazine Nature Poetry Competition.
She joins Martha to discuss poetry, gardens and rebirth after divorce.
Angela reads two of her poems - Brain Coral - the winner of the 91Èȱ¬ Wildlife Magazine competition and published in this month's magazine, and one of her early poems Snake in the Grass, published in No Holds Barred - an anthology of women's poetry edited by The Raving Beauties (The Women's Press; ISBN: 0704339633, 1985).
