Whether you have whorls, loops or tented arches, you can be sure that no one else's are quite the same.
This Summer is the 100th anniversary of the creation of Scotland Yard's fingerprint branch.
The bureau began with a staff of three. And has been instrumental in solving many crimes including the Great Train Robbery in 1963.
Now there are two hundred fingerprint experts - Claudia Hammond went along to the Met to meet some of them.
