How do we engage the young in the political process?
The turnout among 18-24 year olds in the last two General Elections has been under 40%. There is much talk Ìýof apathy, disillusionment and young people failing to see what difference their vote will make. So how canÌýtheyÌýbe motivatedÌýto make it to the ballot box? To discuss the issues, Jane is joined byÌý18 year old Bex Bailey, a member of the Labour party and deputy regional member for the Youth Parliament in Nottinghamshire, 20 year old Emma Carr who isÌýRegional Chairman of Conservative Future for the North East, and Liam Keogh, a 22 year old graduate based in Leeds who runs his own PR company and is undecided about who he will vote for. |
