Samantha Bond as the Queen
How British society has transformed during the Queen's reign

Elizabeth II has been Britain's head of state since 1952 when she succeeded her father George VI to the throne. As Channel 4 brings out a series of five programmes, each documenting a challenging time in the monarch's life, Jane discusses how British society has transformed during the new Elizabethan ageÌýfor the better and for the worse. She is joined by the writerÌýA. N. Wilson and Marion Milne, series producer of Channel 4's The Queen. ÌýHow has the role of the monarch changed? What are the factors that have influenced the changes? What impact has the changing face of the monarchy had on British society?
