Major study of teenagers in Cape Town.
A major new study by the University of Cape town has examined the lives of 4,000 teenagers growing up in the New South Africa. The researchers found that across all communities young people are under huge pressure to have sex and to drop out of school. They also discovered that despite widespread education programmes, teenagers felt HIV posed little threat to them. Jane discusses the findings with Dr Rachel Bray of the University of Cape Town, and Luyanda Mbi, who has trained as a peer educator.
