Fatherhood 26th February 2008
Family
Do fathers have paternal instincts and how big a role do they really want to play in bringin up their children?

Is there such a thing as paternal instinct? If fathers were given more chance to be involved in childrearing, would they jump at the chance? Or would they prefer to continue fulfilling their role as breadwinner? Melissa Viney speaks to three men about how the new expectations placed on them as fathers, played out once their baby was born.

To discuss fatherhood, Jenni is joined by Tina Miller - Reader in Sociology at Oxford Brookes University and Penelope Leach - Psychologist at the Institute for the Study of Children, Families and Social Issues at Birkbeck College.
