Influential 18th century gentlewoman famed for her botanical collages
A new exhibition, 'Mrs Delany and Her Circle', at the Sir John Soane's Museum celebrates the artistic versatility of the Georgian gentlewoman Mary Delany.ÌýNot only was she a significant figure in the practice of natural history but during her long life, Mrs Delany'sÌýpursued a wide range of intellectual, artisitic and scientific endeavours.ÌýTo discover more about this influential woman, Jenni is joined by artist, Jane Wildgoose, whose installation in the exhibitionÌýexplores the important friendship between Mrs Delany and the Duchess of Portland and Amy Meyers, an expert on the 18th century and the life of Mrs Delany.
'Mrs Delany and Her Circle', opens on 18th February at the Sir John Soane’s Museum in London and runs until 1st May.
