The lack of focus on survivors of the disease
Improvements in cancer treatment has meant that more and more people are now surviving cancer. However, survivors of the disease face their own problems, stemming from the long term effects of cancer and its treatment. There is a lack of focus on survivors which is causing needless problems and suffering according to the cancer charity Macmillan Cancer Support. Ciaran Devane, chief executive of Macmillan joins Jane to discuss the issues surrounding post-cancer care and support, along with Sue Kernaghan a cancer survivor who was first diagnosed seven years ago.
