Parenting
Do mothers want fathers to be more involved? 13 June 2008
Or is parenting ultimately a mother's responsibility?

Inevitably it is the mother that carries the child for nine months, and many mothers then breastfeed. What effect does this have on the subsequent care of the child and the division of labour in the home? IsÌýa pattern setÌýwhich prevents fathers from learning parenting on the job? Do some women, consciously or unconsciously, exclude their partners from childcare? Brid Featherstone, Professor of Social Work at Bradford University, Caroline Gatrell, Lecturer at Lancaster University’s Management School, and writerÌýTony Parsons give their views.
