Why is it increasing in popularity?

Sales of haberdashery and sewing machines are soaring, and registration for sewing classes has also dramaticallyÌýincreased.ÌýPossibly inspiredÌýby TV programmes like Gok’s Fashion Fix and Twiggy’s Frock Exchange, home sewing is enjoying a resurgence in popularity. Anna McNamee goes to meet some new sewing aficionados and Jane talks to May Martin, sewing tutor from the WI’s Denman College, about why as a nation we are increasingly shunning the disposable nature of high street fashion in favour of doing it ourselves at home.
