The role of Women in McCain’s presidential campaign

John McCain became only the second presidential candidate ever to pick a female running mate when he chose Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska. But women were highly visible at the Democratic National Convention in DenverÌýwhen all eyes were on failed nominee Hillary Clinton and potential First Lady Michelle Obama. So, what about is knownÌýabout the women on the Republican side of the political fence? We hear about the women who are playing a key role in the McCain campaign -Ìýhis new running mate,Ìýthe other potential First Lady, Cindy McCain, and Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman – the successful business women at the heart of the Republican presidential bid. Jane talks to Penny Mordaunt a Conservative Party candidate who was Head of Foreign Press on George Bush’s 2000 election campaign and to Miki Bowman, Chair of Republicans Abroad UK.
