Female politicians are once again considering what they should do with their cleavage. Vera Lengsfeld, the Christian Democrat candidate in the eastern Berlin district of Freidrichshain, has caused an international stir by producing billboard posters with images of herself, and of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, displaying their generous cleavages. The posters are designedÌýto promote her campaign to win her marginal seat in next month’s general election in Germany, with the strapline: "We have more to offer". But how much cleavage should a woman show? If you’re a politician, should you be showing it off at all? And would you ever see posters like this in the UK?
