ÌýMike Thompson in CongoÌý
You may remember hearing a very disturbing interview we broadcast earlier this year about a young mother in the Congo who had been abducted, raped and forced to kill her own baby.

The interview, which was part of a six part series on the continuing troubles in the Democratic Republic of Congo, so moved a leading jazz musician in Norway that he is dedicating a song on his coming album to her.

Wesseltoft working on his albumÌý Bugge Wesseltoft, who has worked with musicians like John Scofield and Britain's Django Bates, is to feature parts of the interview in the track called 'Wy'. Lyric royalties from the song are to be donated to the woman from Bukavu in Eastern Congo, who finally escaped her Rwandan Hutu abductors after witnessing the murder of fifty of her friends and family.

Mike Thompson with WesseltoftWhen he met Bugge in his studioÌýin Oslo he explained to MikeÌýthat for some time he had been trying to ‘find the right sounds’ to reflect the experiences of civilians caught up in conflict and that Zawadi’s story had made a real impact on him.

The song he has produced, featuring her ‘low, expressive voice’, is due to be released on an album in October.Ìý
