| | | A public convience sign A former public toilet block in Charmouth, Dorset is up for sale. The owners hope to see offers in excess of £25,000.
The toilets are located 50 yards from the beach in Charmouth and have fantastic views right across the sea. The block is five metres by four metres and comes complete with a 20 square metre patio.
The former toilets have already been granted planning permission to be converted into a chalet and come with mains sewers connected. However, although mains water and electricity areÌýthought to be available those details are not yet confirmed.
An Ideal Beach Chalet?
West Dorest District Council haveÌýsaidÌýthat the chalet can only be used as a day dwelling and cannot be used 365 days a year. To protect local businesses, the Council will not allow the toilet to sell and food or drink.
This is not the first time the loos have been on the market. The previous owners, who bought it for £37,000,Ìýdecided to sell because they aren't sure they can devote enough time to the renovations needed.
The estate agents, Martin Diplock, have set up a competition to find the best 'selling speech' to helpÌýsell the toilets. They have promisedÌýthey will donate all their commission to a charity of the winner’s choice.
ThisÌýwave ofÌýsmall and unusualÌýproperties being sold forÌýincreasingly vast amounts continues, and the race to buy land and property means that homeowners are even considering the public toilet as a home.
Recently, properties in Kensington reached an all time high with the average house costing £567,952 and even car park spaces have been soldÌýfor £50,000+
The average house price in Dorset, just a few yards down the road from the toilet block is £141,067. Other chalets along theÌýSouth coast have also been selling recently in the region of £90,000Ìýso maybe at only £25,000 this toilet block is a snip.
