A Derby taxi driver has accused his city council of going bananas over the colour of his vehicle.
John Kirkham sprayed his car yellow to comply with a new council rule demanding a consistent colour for all taxis operating in Derby.
The new colour scheme was introduced partly to prevent customers being duped into getting into vehicles which weren't officially licensed by the council.
But when Mr Kirkham applied for a new licence he was told he'd painted the cab a wrong shade of yellow. Officials were also unimpressed with the quality of the work.
The disagreement has been held up as another example of petty bureaucracy by local councils recently highlighted by the programme.
Mr Kirkham was eventually offered a free re-spray by a local firm which was concerned that he was losing his livelihood while the taxi was off the road.
He now wants to put an advert on the side of the vehicle criticising the council's stance but has been refused permission. Now he's taking legal action against the authority.
