The Central Park Jogger
Emma Simpson
Click here to hear the full length version of Emma Simpson's interview with Trisha Meili, otherwise known as 'The Central Park Jogger'.
Fourteen years ago this month, a young woman was raped, badly beaten and left for dead in New York's central park.
It was a case so shocking it made headlines not only across America, but around the world. She was a twenty eight year old investment banker, working in a city that at that time was plagued by violence and racial tension.
Five Latino and Hispanic teenagers were convicted of the attack, but their convictions were recently overturned when another man, a convicted killer, confessed to the crime.
Much has been written about what happened that night in central park, but the public knew little about the woman who became known simply as 'The Central Park Jogger'.
But now she has broken her silence by publishing her autobiography. Her name is Trisha Meili.
She sat down with our correspondent in New York, Emma Simpson. You can hear an extended version of that interview by clicking on the link above.
