January 2007 NHS: The Health Files We have commissioned four special dossiers on the health service in the UK. When my Editor called me into his office to ask me to find out where all the NHS money had gone, I sent a series of detailed questions to the Departments of Health in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. I thought they were fairly straight forward but some of the press offices have told me that answering certain questions took quite a while. It seems some statistics had to be requested specifically for us. Not all the questions have been answered - some data isn't collected at all - but the files provide us with unique dossiers on the health service in the UK. One word of warning though - don't try to compare one file with another due to the different ways the various Health Departments collect the statistics.
