Each year at Christmas we open up the programme to a range of guest editors to bring a fresh perspective on the news. This year's guest editors included: Damon Albarn, Dame Stella Rimington,ÌýPeter Hennessy and Sir Martin Evans.
Alongside this year's batch of Christmas guest editors we asked for a team of Today Programme listeners to take the helm for a day. We received lots of outstanding applications from which we chose the Dyfed-Powys Police.
Stella Rimington - 26 December 2007
Dame Stella Rimington was the Director-General of MI5 from 1992 to 1996.
On her programme Dame Stella Rimington reports from Westminster on what can be done to restore our trust in politics, she asks whether Pitt the Younger could have survived in modern politics, sheÌýhighlights the plight of women who are victims of domestic violence, andÌýlooks atÌýhow fiction compares to reality in spy fiction.

Damon Albarn is the songwriter and frontman with the bands Blur and Gorillaz, both of which have a massive international following.
InÌýhis programme Damon went to Mali for the Today Programme to report on their attitude towards waste,Ìýwe heardÌýBrian Eno argue for nuclear disarmamentÌýwith the chairman of the Commons Defence Select Committee, followed Syrian rapper Eslam Jawaad as he returns to Damascus, Damon Albarn's manager, Chris Morrison, takes us through 45 years of dramatic changes in the music industry, Poet John Cooper Clarke provides an alternative Christmas thought for the day and we ask what do the children of the world really want for Christmas?

Sir Martin Evans - 29 December 2007
Sir Martin Evans is the scientist who was awarded the Nobel Prize for medicine in 2007 for his part in the identification of embryonic stem cells.
Sir Martin looks at the role of science in the classroom, asks if modern safety culture taken the fun out of science, tells us about the latest debates in the field of stem cell research, takes a trip to Sweden to a hotel made of ice, investigates why the UK hasone of the lowest breast cancer survival rates in the western world, and wonders how safe are nuclear power plants.
Dyfed-Powys police - 1 January 2008
Richard Lewis, Samantha Gainard and Paul Amphlett of Dyfed-Powys Police guest edited the New Years Day edition of Today.
They looked at the fear of crime, the way the portrayal of police in fiction, spoke to David Blunkett to find out who a 91Èȱ¬ Secretary was most likely to listen to when making policy, asked the Chief Constable of North Wales, Richard Brunstrom, about his controvercial views onÌýdrugs legalisation, and talked to the Met Commissioner Sir Ian Blair.
