"The Living World is the next best thing to being there. Our contributors are skilled naturalists who are able to reveal those fascinating facts about animals and plants that you don't always find in books. It's like having a personal guided tour of the countryside, without needing to leave the house."

A Wild Boar in the Forest of Dean. |
The Living World - Wild Boar
For the first of a new series of The Living World, Lionel Kelleway heads to the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire on the trail of a shy and evasive animal that was once wiped out in the British countryside back in the 13th century.
Now re-established in the British landscape, but still hard to track down, Lionel enlists the help of boar expert, Dr Martin Goulding. And the result was a surprise to both of them.
