The current obesity epidemic has galvanised scientists into working out the biological ways in which we control our food intake. Geoff Watts examines new research into a so-called 鈥渃alorie counting鈥 area of the brain. Could this, rather than the taste of food, be the main reason why over the long term we get satisfaction from high calorie foods and why so may diets fail after just a few weeks?
