PROGRAMME INFO
Thursday 21:00-21:30
Leading Edge brings you the latest news from the world of science. Geoff Watts celebrates discoveries as soon as they're being talked about - on the internet, in coffee rooms and bars; often before they're published in journals. And he gets to grips with not just the science, but with the controversies and conversation that surround it.

Ocean pH
Worrying new evidence predicts a steep rise in the acidity of the Earth鈥檚 Oceans. The culprit is carbon dioxide, one of the greenhouse gases thought to be behind global warming.

Micro-needles
A new kind of syringe is set to transform drug delivery. It鈥檚 a centimetre square patch of silicon, containing a set of super-fine micro-needles, each thinner than a human hair.

Tissue repair
If you operate on an embryo in the womb it will heal itself, leaving no scar. Researchers have been trying to find out how the embryo can heal itself so well and whether the knowledge could be used to reduce scarring in the rest of us.

Neolithic diet
Did the British aversion to fish begin with Neolithic man? Four thousand years ago our diet included eating a lot of fish.
But then we gave up our 'hunter-gatherer' lifestyle for the easy life: farmed meat and cultivated cereals. Evidence points to a near complete and rapid switch from surf to turf.

Next week
Geoff Watts explores a new approach to developing effective treatments against anthrax.
