Is global warming the new religion?
I was enthralled by Philip Stott's comment at Wildscreen in Bristol that:"Global warming is like a religion". On further thought, reading and discussion I now doubt this statement and am highly confused. What is the motive behind saying and backing up such statements? What exactly is Prof. Stott trying to motivate people to do, or to think?

Planting acorns in the permafrost
Can oak saplings or acorns or temperate tree seeds be grown in a northern clime where the permafrost exists in the hope that they may germinate if the permafrost thaws permanately - thus creating a large new forest to combat carbon from fossil fuels?
