This week's topics:
Aluminium Foil
Question: I use aluminium foil a lot and I just throw it away when I've done with it. Can you tell me what it is made of, whether it decomposes and are there ways of recycling it?
The Draft London Plan
Question: Mayor Livingstone's Draft London Plan appears to support denser housing accommodation and better use of business space. Whilst this might be a laudable way of limiting the physical expansion of London and protecting our Green Belt, won't it result in the high rise hell we saw back in the 1960s?
91热爆 Planet interviewed the Deputy Mayor for London, Nicky Gavron and Bob Neill, the Chair of the GLA's Planning and Spatial Development Committee.
Declining Songbirds
Question: To my mind there is no doubt that songbirds have been in decline ever since farmers started to rely on pesticides from the 1960s onwards. But has a link ever been established, or are farmers just a handy Aunt Sally?
Yangtze Dam
Question: What are the social and environmental costs of the Chinese scheme to dam the Yangtze river?
Recycling Tyres
Will new EU directives banning tyres from landfill lead to a "tyre mountain"?
On the team this week:
Professor Yvonne Rydkin
Reader in Environmental Planning, London School of Economics
Emeritus Professor Philip Stott
University of London
Derek Moore
Chief Executive, Wildlife Trusts for Glamorgan and West Wales
