The Night of the Long Knives and the Long March
In 1934 ministers started to realise the dangers of Hitler's regime even though many members of the Cabinet felt that Japan was a greater threat than Germany. The Nazis began a sterilisation plan for "imperfect" Germans. More than 50,000 Germans were sterilised in 1934. The World Disarmament Conference broke down.
In China Mao Tse-teung had begun his long march to Shensi Province and the beginnings of the Chinese Communist dynasty.
