In America is the latest semi-autobiographical film from Jim Sheridan, Oscar-winning director of My Left Foot, on arriving penniless with his family in New York to start a new life. Jason Solomons of the Mail on Sunday reviews.

ERIC SCHLOSSER
John Wilson talks to Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation & Reefer Madness, about his first play Americans, which pins the beginnings of the American Empire to the rise of Theodore Roosevelt following the assassination of president William McKinley in 1901.

Americans premieres tomorrow night at London's Arcola Theatre and runs until 22 Nov 2003. Play published by Penguin.
