Afro Beat |

Cargo and its luminous arches featured the old and the new in an electrifying night of Nigeria pace setters. The old guard of Dele Sosimi and AfroJazz tymes and the new power of JJC of the 419 Squad. The old rogue of Afrobeat versus the young throbs of hip-hop, the night was simply billed Africa night at the shrine

On June 10th a new club called Chocolate Milk was launched, with the aim of bringing the hottest 'global grooves' to London. The intimate Notting Hill Arts Club was transformed into a wild Parisian Brazilian party. Judging by the first night, the club will appeal to a wide and willing audience. (Tessa Watt)

Lots of Turkish & North African music, but other stuff too. Runs club nights & occasional one/two day indoor festivals. Generally also has belly dancers sometimes trapeze artist occasionally other acts too. Relaxed, safe atmosphere. Actual chapel (which is used for concerts) is beautiful. Good dancing space which fills up as the evening progresses. A good spread of ages seem to attend. Bar/cafe. (Krista Lonsdale) ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýAdd Your Comments |

Every Tuesday from 9pm, free admission. The only weekly English session in London, as far as we know. Great informal atmosphere. It's been going for eight years and has developed a tradition of its own. Not much singing, but lots of great tune playing. (Richard P)
Apart from the regular English Folk music session on Tuesday and Jazz at 6pm on Sundays, we also have invited guests on occassional Friday and Saturday evenings from all over the world. See our website for details. The atmosphere is FANTASTIC! (Pete G)

Spitz is a smashing venue set above a restaurant of the same name in Spittalfields market. I've seen a range of gigs here from American jazz eccentrics Gutbucket to soul all stars Akimbo (I even DJed solid funk here once myself, to a great crowd!). Lovely atmosphere, aided by friendly staff, good sound and tealights everywhere! A truely international and top quality line up of acts every night. (Steve)
