A favourite song:
'Constellation of Birds' is an acoustic track of mine, which I performed live at the Electronicage Festival at the Spitz Club in London a few years ago. It was the first time that I'd performed my improvised music solo. At the time I was reading a book of poetry by the surrealist poet, Andre Breton. The poems were Breton's response
to 'Constellation of Birds', a series of paintings created by Jean Miro in 1943 and so I was inspired to call my piece by the same name. I love both paintings and literature ever since my secondary school days in Chile when about eight of us got very involved in arts and politics and started creating things. It was a very exciting time in the days before Pinochet. Anything seemed possible.
'Improvisation' is one of a series of numbers that myself and Paul Moss, another member of Quilombo Expontañeo recorded. We've now actually sent them to our old friend and bass player, Jorge Campos who lives in Chile. He's going to improvise over them with his bass and do the final mix. It'll be exciting to hear what he comes up with.
