A favourite song:
'Find your own way' was the first song I wrote which was any good. Up until then, I'd been writing all these sad songs about death and my English teacher, Mr Krolla, who'd taught me how to play the guitar, encouraged me to write more about stuff that was really happening to me. Inspired by a lad at our school whose mother used to always come and pick him up, I wrote about the experience of young people having to branch out and lead their own independent lives. Writing about these kind of real events marked a turning point for me as a song writer and I haven't looked back since.
