That opening 'bom-bo-bo-bom-bom' is enough to make the hairs stand up on my neck. I know I am in the presence of greatness. Classic heartbreak songs usually belong to women, but there are a handful that speak from the core of men's feelings and this is the best.

A beautiful, blissful record - Marvin's voice soothes your soul even though he's singing about heartbreak.

It's the song! I have versions by Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Creedence Clearwater Revival. The Stills, Zapp Band and Micheal McDonald, they all bring their stlye to a great song. If anyone has anyother versions I'd like to know the artist name so I came add them to my collection.

Gareth Bennie Falkirk
quite simply, the greatest pop song ever written

its hard to say what pop music would sound like now if this record had never been made , this gave pop and soul a depth and respect it will never lose, and served to expose Marvin to waiting world and for that reason alone we should be very greatful

Being a HUGE!! Motown fan I couldn't possibly choose their greatest release. Marvin Gaye undoubtably had one of the greatest voice's of all time and his later productions are so under valued. "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" is typical of music from that era, in a way that they are as influential now as when they were released. I am a huge fan of 60's/70's music in general and I am only 18.

Marcus from Dusseldorf/Germany
In my opinion it is the greatest recording in rock music history. Marvin麓s voice is in white heat and the percussion, the strings as well as the harmonies do their best to make it the most dramatic song ever.
