'I Am The Resurrection'
The Stone Roses
The Stone Roses
Does 鈥淚 Am The Resurrection鈥 mark the high point of the 鈥楳adchester鈥 scene? Were The Stone Roses as good a band as their reputation would now suggest?

From the thundering drum beat at the start through to the fading out of the guitar you know you've just heard something very special come the end of the eight minutes

Gavin

Ciaran Watson, Belfast.
the stone rose LP was simply the best debut of all time and one of the best albums ever. the final song on the album (Resurrection) is stunning at 3.40 mins but when you sit back and listen to the whole song your in heaven. this is all about john squire and the confidence of brown's lyrics. all in all this is a remarkable song from a remarkable album. xo.

simon, woking
There is no doubt in my mind that this is the Roses' finest moment. It is a triumphant climax to the album - it's almost as if they have climbed to the top of the mountain and from a lofty peak and surveying their triumph. Pure genius! An amazing combination of uplifting music yet the most bitter, savage lyrics. Truly awesome!

Mark Evans Berkhamsted
the greastest song of all time, behind Bohemian Rhapsody

kirky, Manchester
Absolutely awesome tune. Agree with what some people have said that fools gold is better but its all down to taste. my personal favourite is This is the one.

steve blackpool
simplicity at it finest. Always makes an impact on me on every listen to this stomp.

Steve, Liverpool
First time I heard this was live in May 89 at Leeds Warehouse. Me and two mates went to a bar afterwards and sat in silence, stunned at how brilliant they were. Were they as good as their reputation suggests? Noel Gallagher admits Oasis were the blueprint for his band, enough said.

Andrew Scully, Edinburgh
Quite literally the best finale I've ever heard on an album. Although I still think Fool's Gold and Waterfall are their best songs.

Abby London (from Ghana)
How about "Love Spreads" by the Stone Roses? Juicyly haunting and cryptic and with the best timing ever. Wonderful song.

Fiona
Fantastic song, showing just how good The Stone Roses were. 8 minutes of pure joy, John Squire is a fantastic guitar player. The best song they ever did.

KeithyK, Whitburn
This song just sums up the period. Dancing in a club at 2 in the morning, beer in hand, just lost in the music. God like genius. The band in total control. Pity it didn't last....... Loved the next album too by the way. Let's get John, Mani, Ian & Reni back together. Take me back to my youth and 1989. Life was so simple....music and attitude, and maybe some beer!!

Lou @ inverness
Yeah, I Am The Resurrection definitely helped the Stone Roses, however the song Breaking Into Heaven is far more experimental and and it doesn't receive the credit it deserves.

Jut
The Roses set the mould for all the great british bands over the past 15 years and there legacy is still felt today. Will they ever get back together again??????

Keysha, bristol
don't agree it's their best, prefer fool's gold

stevo harrogate
8 mins of sheer class, a marker for any rock n roll band on how to make a 8 minute epic, class guitar work from john squire too
