What was it about the Presley version that made it sell so many more copies than Big Mama Thornton's? Do you prefer the vocal and the tempo or is it just that Presley charisma? Are you an Elvis fan and if so why?

Every performance on the record is perfect and the recording is as good as contemporary equipment would allow. By no means is this Elvis at his vocal best but it is certainly an excellent representation of what Elvis meant in the '50s. What made the record legendary was the coupling of Hound Dog with probably one of the best Popular Musical performances ever on the flip side. Because of modern music release policy, Hound Dog / Don't Be Cruel will probably never be matched.
