Nilsson鈥檚 version appeared on his 1971 album Nilsson Schmilson, and was a huge hit around the world although Ham and Evans hardly saw a penny of the proceeds. Mariah Carey鈥檚 version in the 90s brought the song back to the public attention, although her vocal gymnastics failed to match the quivering longing of Nilssons rendition.
