Things became a bit more racy in the early 70s. Following the success of the Jackson 5 the Osmond’s management saw the commercial possibilities for a white version of the ‘family band.’ In came the swanky outfits and dance routines,Ìý and along came Donny the white Michael Jackson! They sold records by the million.
And like Michael, Donny had a solo career – the height of which was ‘Puppy Love’, a cover of a Paul Anka song, which reached #1 in Britain in the summer of 1972. Teeny boppers everywhere swooned, young men looked on bemused. What was all the fuss about?
As Donny became a man, the record sales fell away. Not one to brood Donny has continued in the showbiz field, singing in musicals and fronting television shows.
His teeth still as gleaming and perfect as they were when he was 14.
