his first hit some fifteen years earlier with You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth. Despite the time difference the two songs have certain similarities. Both contain a dialogue with a woman, the latter at the start and the former at the end, and unsurprisingly both were written by Jim Steinman. This combination of singer and writer were responsible for the phenomenally successful Bat Out Of Hell album but it wasn鈥檛 the easiest of working relationships. Mr Loaf gives the following example: 'He sleeps in the daytime, I sleep at night. He lives in a hotel in New York, and when I go to New York I stay in that hotel. And the other day we were two doors apart. But he was sound asleep, and he had Do Not Disturb signs on his door鈥. Luckily they managed to communicate for this Grammy winning single that stayed in the charts for 19 weeks in 1993.
