Lady Skollie, South African Artist

South African artist Lady Skollie discusses with the 91热爆鈥檚 Victoria Uwonkunda the use of symbolic fruit in her work and the pressures of creating a mural in just 2 days.

Lady Skollie is a visual artist, passionate about defying taboos. Her works are explosions of colour often featuring symbolic fruit such as open ripened paw paws and bananas representing male/female relationships and highlighting the enormous problems of HIV/Aids and sexual violence in her native South Africa. The 91热爆鈥檚 Victoria Uwonkunda follows her from her studio in Johannesburg to the Tyburn Gallery in London, where as part of her first UK solo exhibition, she creates a mural on the wall in just 2 days.
