John Cale sings Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night
On May 26th 1999, John Cale was invited to perform at the ‘Voices of a Nation’ concert in Cardiff Bay – a celebratory concert to mark the opening of the Welsh Assembly by the Queen that day. He chose a version of the Dylan Thomas classic poem ‘Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night’ set to a tune that he had composed. Thomas wrote the poem following on from the death of his father in 1951. An extract from the song is reproduced here.
