Join author Jocelyn Rendall and a cast of local voices bringing Orkney history to life with tales from the 17th to 19th centuries found in papers held in the Orkney Archives. Jocelyn serialises her book, Farstraers, for 91热爆 Orkney. Her exhaustive research has revealed first hand accounts from the Orcadians who lived through tumultuous periods in history.

This month, Jocelyn reveals how the slave trade changed Orkney as people across the islands were engaged in work and trade linked to the British colonies in the Caribbean. Local people made perilous sea journeys to work and fight in the colonies.
Jocelyn also recounts the terrible conditions endured by Orcadians who joined the Arctic whaling ships in Stromness to hunt whales in the Nor'Wast.

The programme deals with historical depictions of slaves and slavery found in papers and documents held in the Orkney Archives.
