Arun Ghosh in concert, Norma Winstone

Live jazz fusion from clarinettist Arun Ghosh and his latest band. Plus vocalist Norma Winstone鈥檚 inspirations.

Kevin Le Gendre presents live music from clarinettist Arun Ghosh and his latest band, featuring Sarathy Korwar on drums and tabla, Ruth Goller on bass, Idris Rahman on tenor and harmonium and Chris Williams on alto. Ghosh鈥檚 trademark sound fuses jazz with traditional Indian music. The set, recorded live at Snape Maltings, features energetic grooves, reimagined standards and some brand new compositions.

Also in the programme, Norma Winstone marks her 80th birthday by sharing some of the music that has influenced and inspired her. Winstone is one of the UK鈥檚 finest vocalists, known for her style of wordless improvisation, once described as "state-of-the-art, imaginative, virtually beyond-definition singing."
