There are more than 30 lighthouses dotted around the Welsh coast, many in some remote and beautiful locations. Helping to keep sailors safe they are also fascinating structures in their own right. In this, Visit Wales' "Year of the Sea" Rachael Garside visits the striking white lighthouse of Strumblehead, a popular landmark, near Fishguard on the north coast of Pembrokeshire. Built by Trinity House in 1908 and automated since 1980, it marks the dangerous stretch of coast for vessels between Ireland and Wales. We also visit the community run South Stack lighthouse on Anglesey and take a walk to the now redundant Whiteford point lighthouse, off the coastal path of Gower
