Episode 8
The search for the UK's 2018 culinary superstar continues. In this heat, Monica asks three chefs to cook an elegant and tasty dish of broccoli - cooked three different ways.
Six more chefs head to the MasterChef kitchen for another heat. Monica kicks off the skills test by asking the chefs to cook an elegant and tasty dish of broccoli - cooked three different ways. Can the chefs use their creativity to conjure up a plate from one head of broccoli that will catapult them into the judges' good books?
The next three chefs will have to keep calm and dig deep into their cookery skills when Marcus asks them to make a dish of perfectly poached haddock on toast, accompanied by a polonaise sauce and topped with a fried egg. The traditional sauce made with boiled egg, parsley and crumb may cause the chefs to falter, but surely frying an egg will find them back in familiar territory?
Next, the six chefs must complete the signature dish round. This is their chance to showcase their cooking style and creativity using their very own recipes. Everything is riding on how they perform under the intense pressure of this round as only three chefs will make it through to the quarter final.
