More about the programme

The environment watchdog for Wales, Natural Resources Wales, says the number of slurry spills into rivers and watercourses from farms is 鈥渃learly unacceptable鈥.

Farm-related pollution was responsible for 15% of water pollution incidents over a three-year period.聽

The farming sector says it is committed to tackling the problem and the Welsh Government has held back from imposing restrictions on slurry spreading in favour of a collaborative approach blending regulations with voluntary codes and investment.

But fishermen say a tougher approach is needed and Wales鈥檚 rivers will be ruined if the spills continue.
