91Èȱ¬ London Rocks for Children in Need 2011

Get your air guitars ready and be a part of 91Èȱ¬ London's special fundraising gala performance of the musical Rock Of Ages at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London's West End on Wednesday 16 November 2011.

After the success of last year's Jersey Boys musical, 91Èȱ¬ London 94.9FM presenters Gaby Roslin, Tony Blackburn and Vanessa Feltz are once again excited to introduce this special gala performance, raising money towards helping disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

Rock Of Ages tells the story of Drew, a boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, both in LA to pursue their dreams of making it big, who on the way, fall in love. Set in LA's infamous Sunset Strip in 1987, Rock Of Ages takes you back to the time of big Eighties rock bands – the time of big egos, big guitar solos and big hair.

The London cast is headed by Justin Lee Collins as Dennis Dupree and X-Factor 2005 winner Shayne Ward as Stacee Jaxx. Oliver Tompsett is the foolhardy Drew who falls for the wiles of Amy Pemberton as Sherrie.

Gaby Roslin says she hopes this year will prove to be another huge hit with listeners and raise even more money for 91Èȱ¬ Children in Need: "Last year we raised an enormous amount for Children in Need with the musical Jersey Boys. This year can't be more different! Rock Of Ages is going to be fun and feisty and we hope you can all join us for what is sure to be a brilliant night, and in the process raise lots of money for charity."

91Èȱ¬ London 94.9 FM Sunday Soul and Motown presenter Tony Blackburn is also looking forward to the night: "What an evening we are going to have! The Eighties were full of fun and fun music and I can't think of a better way to raise a fantastic amount for Children in Need."

Julian Stoneman, Executive Producer of Rock Of Ages The Musical, says: "Children in Need is such an important date in the calendar and a night when all of us can do our bit to help to improve the lives of so many people. The cast and crew of Rock Of Ages are very honoured to be able to do our bit and raise money from our gala performance on the 16 November."

So go on – let the Eighties back in and rock your socks off to The Final Countdown, We Built This City, and Don't Stop Believing – and make a noise, make a difference and raise money for 91Èȱ¬ Children in Need.

Notes to Editors

Last year 91Èȱ¬ London raised over £60,000 in one night with a gala performance of Jersey Boys.
