Radio 4 is more popular than ever, boosted by record figures for the Today programme and a surge in listening to Radio 4 Extra – the rebranded Radio 7 – according to data published today by RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd).
The figures show that during the measurement period (March 28 to June 26), Radio 4 reached 10.85 million people each week (from 10.40m last year and 10.83 last quarter), the Today programme attracted 7.18 million listeners per week (from 6.98m last year and the previous record of 7.03m last quarter) and Radio 4 Extra added half a million listeners to post a reach of 1.61 million – up from 949,000 last year and 1.16 million last quarter.
