91Èȱ¬ Comedy teams up with Laughs In The Park to host UK's biggest outdoor comedy event

91Èȱ¬ Comedy today announced that it will be hosting a live comedy stage at this year's Laughs In The Park.

Now in its second year, the three-day comedy extravaganza, devised by comedy great Eddie Izzard will kick off on July 22 in Verulamium Park, St Albans, and play host to an exciting array of well-known and up-and-coming comedians.

Izzard will be joined on the main stage over the course of the weekend by the brilliant Ross Noble and Tommy Tiernan, performing to more than 20,000 people.

Details of those performing on the 91Èȱ¬ Comedy Presents stage are yet to be announced but comedy fans are promised an exciting line-up of big names and the best new talent.

Coverage of the event will be aired in a specially packaged hour-long show on 91Èȱ¬ Two with further highlights and interviews broadcast in an hour long special on 91Èȱ¬ Radio 1 and extended highlights online at and via 91Èȱ¬ Red Button.

Jack Cheshire, Executive Producer, said: "We're delighted to be able to offer such truly multiplatform coverage of this event. It's a unique synergy of every thing 91Èȱ¬ Comedy does best – on TV, radio, online and live – and a brilliant opportunity for the 91Èȱ¬ to get involved with a high-profile event promoting both new and established talent at an early stage.

And with its stellar line-up and fantastic setting, Laughs In The Park presents a real opportunity to take the TV coverage of stand up comedy to the next level – with bigger names, a bigger venue and adding a truly festival vibe to the experience… and I'm not just talking about the portaloos."

The event, which will be overseen by comedy promoter Mick Perrin, will see 70 trucks and a 450 person-strong crew descend on the sleepy town of St Albans in order to construct the UK's biggest purpose built comedy outdoor stage.

Laughs In The Park will be broadcast on 91Èȱ¬ Two and Radio 1 this summer. The executive producer is Jack Cheshire.
