Join Radio Wales to celebrate Wales Music Day

Some of Wales's top new musical talents are set to join established Welsh names and presenters across the country to celebrate this year's 91Èȱ¬ Radio Wales Music Day on 25 March.

Manic Street Preachers's frontman James Dean Bradfield is just one of the stars signed up to record an exclusive acoustic session for the day, while some of 91Èȱ¬ Radio Wales's most prominent presenters will be turning up at venues across Wales to share some of the new sounds with listeners.

Ten up-and-coming Welsh artists will be showcased throughout the day, with Welsh music heard across the whole of the broadcasting schedule, from 6am right through to 1am the next morning.

Mid-morning presenters Jamie Owen and Louise Elliott will be travelling to Swansea to encourage patrons of the city's Monkey Café to join in the fun live on air from 9am, while Alan Thompson's Evening Show will be live from Clwyd Theatr Cymru in Mold from 7.30pm.

And there will also be a celebration of one of Wales's most famous music venues, the "legendary" TJs in Newport.

Steve Austins, Editor, 91Èȱ¬ Radio Wales, said: "91Èȱ¬ Radio Wales Music Day is an ambitious and exciting celebration of some of the best talent in Wales, mixing music from up-and-coming artists and bands with that of some of Wales' most popular performers. Tune in on 25 March to be part of the celebration."

Details of the artists taking part will be announced later this month.
