New presenter for 91Èȱ¬'s regional Football League show in South, West & South West

Fans' favourite James Richardson, of Football Italia fame, is to present the 91Èȱ¬'s regional Football League magazine show, Late Kick Off, when it returns to 91Èȱ¬ One in the South, the West and South West later this month.

The programme starts on Monday 17 January at the new time of 11.10pm making Monday nights "access all areas" to the week's top news stories, backroom reports, interviews, discussion and match analysis from clubs across the South of England.

More than just a highlights programme, it's the only Football League show that gets to grips with what the fans are talking about and what matters to them most. And it'll be there following all the ups and downs – both on and off the pitch – as the Football League season draws to its dramatic climax.

James Richardson is well known to football fans for his adventures reporting Italian football for Channel 4 and is now a well-renowned football writer (The Guardian Unlimited) and broadcaster (Setanta, Sky TV). He'll be dipping into his wealth of football knowledge for the programme while guests and pundits from across the game promise to kick off some lively debates on the week's hottest topics.

Joining James each week will be Late Kick Off regulars Graeme Murty (former Saints player and Reading skipper) and Leroy Rosenior (former Torquay boss and ex Bristol City player) to bring fans up to date news on all that is happening with the Football League.

There will also be regular features each week, such as looking at the exclusive tricks of the trade – the skills and set pieces – which are rarely admitted to or revealed but every pro has up their sleeves. The show explores what goes into a scouting report and how the teams use the information to beat the opposition. Plus the team catches up with the many famous faces across the region and tells the fans' stories, including the most determined and super human efforts that supporters have made to watch their team.

Fans won't have to miss a thing as the programmes will also be on .

Looking forward to his first show in the new series, James Richardson said: "I am delighted to be given this cracking opportunity to dive into the Football League. It's real football - the fans' commitment and dedication to their teams is a joy to behold, as is the action on field. It'll be a real privilege to help bring supporters all the latest news plus the inside word on what's going on in the dressing room and beyond. And with Leroy and Murty on board, there should be a big tick in the box marked 'banter'.

"Ultimately, this is a show for the supporters, so we really want people to get in touch and let us know what they think – join our or follow us on and the blogs and be part of Late Kick Off."

Late Kick Off is again being made by the Southern Independent company Pergall Media, led by Andy Steggall and Match Of The Day commentator John Roder.

Andy Steggall, the programme's executive producer, said: "As a long-standing sports reporter and producer in the South of England I really enjoy putting together Late Kick Off. It gives me a chance to get out there and deliver the stories that matter, putting my footballing contacts and knowledge to the test so we hit the spot with the football clubs, their fans and crucially all our viewers. Monday nights will certainly be the place for top news and information on the clubs you love."

Late Kick Off complements the success of the network highlights programme, The Football League Show, along with live coverage of 10 League matches during the season and the Carling Cup semi-finals and final.

Along with action from the Premier League on Match Of The Day and 91Èȱ¬ Radio 5 Live, the 91Èȱ¬ provides sports fans with access to all the goals and all the action, the length and breadth of the country.
