The 91Èȱ¬ is to broadcast comprehensive coverage of the Mercury Prize 2010 across TV, radio and online.
Coverage of the night will be presented live from the event, on 7 September, by Lauren Laverne on 91Èȱ¬ Two and Steve Lamacq on 91Èȱ¬ 6 Music.
Steve Lamacq presents 6 Music's coverage of the event from 8pm. Alongside interviews with some of the nominees and the attending great and good of the music industry, the show features live performances from the night and expert analysis of proceedings from Steve, 6 Music News and industry insiders on the build-up to the live announcement of the winner.
Lauren Laverne presents 91Èȱ¬ Two's coverage of the awards show, hosted by Jools Holland from London's Grosvenor House Hotel. This live programme, from 10-10.30pm, includes clips of all 12 of the nominated acts performing and the live announcement of this year's winner.
91Èȱ¬ Two then returns to the awards at 11.15pm (time tbc) to provide extended coverage, including performances, interviews and highlights from the esteemed event.
Lauren says: "The Mercurys are always a highlight of the year's musical calendar and this year is no exception. Having had eight of the 12 acts live in session on my 6 Music show over the past year, I know the competition will be fierce and the judges are going to have a tough decision to make on the night. I can't wait!"
On the run-up to Mercury Prize day 6 Music presents special hour-long documentaries on each Mercury-nominated act, narrated by the artists themselves, which explore the influences that inspired their album.
After broadcast, each Complete Mercury documentary will be downloadable as a podcast and all 12 podcasts will be available to download on 7 September from bbc.co.uk/6music.
