From the team behind 91Èȱ¬ One's Live At The Apollo, the Bafta-nominated Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow returns to 91Èȱ¬ One this September for a second series, featuring special headline guests John Bishop, Kevin Bridges, Ardal O' Hanlon, Sarah Millican, Tommy Tiernan, Noel Fielding as well as a host of new comedy talent.
Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow will travel around the UK visiting six of the most prestigious live theatre venues, unearthing a raft of comedy's brightest new talent and finest comedians en route.
The first series aired on 91Èȱ¬ One last summer to phenomenal success and regularly achieved audiences of over 5m viewers and went on to be nominated for a plethora of high-profile awards, including a Bafta, NTA (National TV Award), RTS Award and British Comedy Award. The series won an RTS North Award for Best TV Entertainment Show in 2009.
New, up-and-coming comedians who appeared in the first series of Comedy Roadshow are now established names in their own right – playing to sell-out crowds at some of the UK's largest comedy venue's, releasing top-selling DVDs and regularly appearing on television screens.
This is testament to Michael McInytre's Comedy Roadshow and its unique ability to launch new comic's careers and give them their turn in the spotlight on prime-time national television.
In each of the six episodes, Michael McIntyre will introduce a very special guest headline act as well as three of the best stand-ups from the UK comedy circuit, who will be new to a 91Èȱ¬ One Saturday-night audience.
Headlining the Blackpool Grand Theatre is John Bishop, with guests Terry Alderton, Justin Moorhouse and Miles Jupp; Kevin Bridges headlines the Glasgow Theatre Royal with guests Daniel Sloss, Craig Campbell and Milton Jones; Ardal O'Hanlon headlines the Leeds Grand Theatre with guests Jack Whitehall, Andi Osho and Sean Collins; Sarah Millican headlines the Sunderland Empire Theatre with guests Simon Evans, Jimeon and Imran Yusif; Tommy Tiernan headlines the Dublin Olympia Theatre with guests Andrew Lawrence, Keith Farnan and Zoe Lyons; and Noel Fielding headlines the Bristol Hippodrome with Sean Walsh, Mike Gunn and Hal Cruttendon.
Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow is an Open Mike Manchester production for 91Èȱ¬ One. The series producer is Anthony Caveney, the producer is Cameron Banks, the executive producers are Addison Cresswell, Joe Norris and Andrew Beint and the entertainment commissioning editor for the 91Èȱ¬ is Karl Warner.
